Epilogue: The News Cycle
Many readers have asked what happened to the News Cycle, the cheap bike we used for some short excursions around Beijing.
The original News Cycle suffered a flat and other mechanical problems, so we exchanged it for one of the other cheap bikes we used on our Big Beijing Bike Commute. This was then dubbed News Cycle II.
Graham had final custody of the bike following closing ceremonies on Sunday and had this update:
“I took the News Cycle II for one last spin around the parking lot right before we went to the airport. I left the bike lock with the key in the lock under the rear bike rack and parked it right by all of the hubbub at the MPC exit. I took a photo, which I’m including here! Gonna miss that bike!”
Hopefully it has a new owner who is enjoying the ride but unaware of its legacy.
